Childcare Ideas

Everyone loves a rainbow…

I personally love supporting local, independent businesses in Sheffield. One shop I love to go in and pick up wonderful toys for my little ones is Trapeze kids. Trapeze Kids is a local children’s clothing and lifestyle shop that sells ethical and environmentally friendly brands.

Which brings me nicely to something I picked up the other day…

A wooden stacking RAINBOW!!!

One of the brands stocked by Trapeze Kids is Grimms Toys. Grimms Toys produce beautiful wooden toys, all made from sustainable wood with non toxic, safe dye colouring.

The rainbow I picked up was £58.99. Now I know this sounds a little steep, but its a beautiful toy. Safe for newborns + to play with (and I can personally vouch for the fact that adults will love to play with it too, as a friend and I played with it quite happily for a few hours!!)

I’ve got the large rainbow (there’s a smaller 6 piece one as well) with 12 coloured pieces. Children (or adults!) can stack, sort and build with the pieces, it can also be used for imaginative play. Children can use as a cradle for dolls, as fence for animals, a tunnel or bridge for vehicles etc, etc. Its great for developing hand eye co-ordination and spatial awareness and because of the beautiful colouring of each piece you can help your kids learn their colours.

It’s such a lovely open ended toy and I’m looking forward to seeing where our Rainbow takes our play this week with the small ones 🙂 I’ll be sure to update you over on my Instagram!

If you love the rainbow as much as I do, its available on the web or in the Trapeze Kids store on Sharrowvale Road in Sheffield.
